Biography
I would describe myself as a quantum software engineer, although I have worn many different hats in my career. I began my journey in quantum computing as an undergraduate at the University of Calgary. As part of my honours thesis, I studied quantum information theory; in particular, I worked on computing the entropy of quantum channels. Aside from classwork on quantum mechanics, this was my main introduction to the world of quantum computing. After completing my undergraduate degree, I decided to pursue a master's in quantum computing from the University of Calgary as well. During my time pursuing my master's, I learned the fundamentals of quantum computing, got up to date on the current state of the industry, and gained all of the essential business knowledge I needed to maneuver through a rapidly evolving market. Upon completion of my master's, I worked for a startup called Bosonic, a quantum hardware developer which worked on building distributed ion-trap quantum hardware. I was their first hire, and as such, I wore many different hats. I began my journey at Bosonic as a business analyst, where my main task was to keep up with the most recent information on quantum computing companies around the globe and present that information in a digestible format to the rest of the team. This involved some work in Power BI and SQL, as well as some software development to automatically update my data. After a couple of months, I was switched over to more software development projects, some of which I describe under my "Work" section. Aside from developing software, I also worked on community engagement. This involved brainstorming and executing ideas on how to grow interest in distributed quantum computing and build a brand for Bosonic as we prepared our hardware launch. This involved community outreach, talking to folks in the industry, and creating a series of workshops which were meant to be presented to students across key universities with an interest in quantum computing. I am currently looking for the next step in my career. I have grown exponentially as a quantum software engineer, and I would like to bring my experience and skills to a new role to continue the development of the quantum industry!

Outside of work
While this is meant to be a professional page, I thought it would be fun to share a bit about myself. Outside of work, I enjoy a variety of hobbies and interests. I am a strong believer that to excel in life, you must have four types of hobbies: one to keep you physically fit, one to keep your mind sharp, one to keep you social, and one to keep you emotionally intelligent. I have a variety of physical hobbies, the main one of which is weightlifting, but I enjoy running, hiking, swimming, and playing a variety of sports with my friends. In terms of keeping my mind sharp, I enjoy reading. My favorite book is "A Brief History of Time" by Stephen Hawking, which was a book that inspired me to pursue a career in physics. Outside of reading, I enjoy puzzle and strategy games like sudoku, Wordle, and chess, and I have recently been obsessing over GeoGuessr. For social hobbies, I love travelling and spending time with my friends playing board games, enjoying sports, or staying at home and playing video games online. Lastly, to keep myself emotionally fit, I enjoy journaling and educating myself on mental health and emotional intelligence. I find that knowing the science behind these concepts helps me to stay focused and enjoy life. All of these hobbies and interests help me to be a well-rounded individual and excel in both my career and personal life!
